in vivo 2-photon imaging
In vivo 2-photon laser scanning confocal imaging allows time-lapse studies of single neurons in living mice. We are using this state-of-the-art imaging technique to study neuronal events responsible for the storage of memory in the neocortex. We are focusing our studies both on axonal and dendritic structural changes underlying memory, as well as on circuit properties of memory encoding in complex neocortical networks.
